Why I'm taking part in Blogtober 2020

For the first time, I’m taking part in Blogtober. I can’t really believe I’m deciding to do this now. I’ve been blogging since 2017 and have never taken part before.

Back in January this year I was planning on closing the blog down. I also offer digital marketing services and these had started to take up all of my time. To the extent that I thought I would close the blog and focus on that.

Then COVID arrived! My marketing clients all slowly but surely closed their businesses or lost their budget. I learnt a lot of lessons during this period, such as don’t have all your clients come from one country which is the worst hit by the pandemic (Italy!).

The blog, however, which had continued steady growth in the background, suddenly starting gaining fast momentum again. I realised that actually having all your income coming from one place (the digital marketing business) was not a good idea!

So here I am 6 months later and the blog is doing very well. I’ve learnt a lot in the last 3 years and these lessons are starting to pay off!

I decided this year I would take part in Blogtober to boost my content further and give back to all my lovely readers who keep coming to read about our adventures in Italy and the UK.

What is Blogtober?

If you don’t know anything about Blogtober this is where lots of bloggers or businesses with a blog decide to write a post every day throughout October!

Some write on specific themes and join in with other bloggers to all write about similar topics.

It’s a great way to get back into writing if you’ve paused. Or to show your readers a bit about yourself by giving them lots of extra content on themes they enjoy.

What will I write about?

I decided I will write a bit about all the topics my readers usually love:

  • Italy

  • Food

  • Travel

  • Education and bilingualism

  • Parenting

As we’ve just entered my favourite season and birthday month, I will be including some seasonal content as well.

How can you help?

It would be wonderful if you could support the blog by popping back for a read with your coffee during October.

If you enjoy a post please share it, there will be lots of comforting recipes on their way!
