Festival season is upon us and what better way to get in the mood for amazing tunes and sunshine than to be inspired by the Ultra Music Festival.

Ultra Music Festival (UMF) is an annual outdoor electronic music festival that takes place during March in Miami, Florida, United States. The festival was founded in 1999 by Russell Faibisch and Alex Omes.

It was first held on Miami South Beach, but mainly it's held at Bayfront Park in downtown Miami. Alongside the flagship event in Miami, Ultra has grown into a larger series of events called Ultra Worldwide. This is to keep festival goers everywhere feel included and locations have been found across the globe.

Ultra Music Festival Fashion is famous for its fun and energetic appearance and the great atmosphere, which matches the electronic dance music. Many attendees express their personal style through their music festival outfit.

We may not be heading to Miami but we can get some ideas for vibrant, beautiful dresses and funky accessories from this electric event. When it comes to choosing what to wear for the festival season, here are some of our ideas...

Festival Outfit Ideas

EDM (electronic dance music) or Rave Inspired

Bright, colourful, and bold outfits are commonly seen at Ultra Music Festival. So think neon colours, sequins, metallics, and holographic materials. Popular clothing items may include metallic or marbled summer dresses, crop tops, bodysuits, high-waisted shorts, tutus, fishnet stockings, and bikini tops. Don't be afraid to mix and match different colours and patterns to create a fun and eye-catching look.

Athletic Wear

As an Ultra Music Festival involves a lot of dancing and moving around, it makes sense that comfortable and functional athletic wear is an easy choice. Sporty tank tops, leggings, joggers, and sneakers are not only comfortable but also fashionable. You can opt for branded athletic wear or mix it up with bright colours and accessories. This is one easy way to attend a festival feeling as comfortable as you can.

Footwear

It's important to wear comfortable shoes that can withstand a few hours of walking and dancing. Trainers and comfortable sandals are popular choices but you also want something which stand out. If you love high heels go for a style such as platform block heels, platform wedges and those with ankle straps for extra support. Make sure to choose footwear that provides enough style, pizazz and a little comfort for the outdoor festival environment.

Statement Accessories

Accessories play a significant role in completing your festival look. Consider wearing statement pieces like colourful wigs, LED light-up accessories, face jewels, body chains, sunglasses, and hats. These can add a touch of uniqueness and enhance your overall outfit. Almost anything goes at festivals, even with your makeup. Got a look you've been wanting to try but feel it's too daring for the office? This is your chance!

DIY and Customized Outfits

Many festival-goers like to create their own unique outfits by customizing clothing items or making DIY accessories. This allows for personal expression and adds a personal touch to your festival attire. You can use fabric paint, patches, pins, or even sew or glue on different embellishments to create a one-of-a-kind outfit. This is one of the most lovely aspects of a festival as individualism is really celebrated. There's no trying to fit in, you wear what makes you happy.

The most important thing is to feel good and geniunely confident in whatever outfit you choose. When you're watching the main stage and hitting that dance floor you don't want to worry about what you're wearing. Express your personal style and have fun with your festival look while keeping in mind the practicalities of a long day at the festival. Lastly, don't forget to check the festival's dress code or any specific guidelines they may have before finalising your outfit.

Tips for attending a festival

Though it all sounds like the most fun weekend, making sure a festival is memorable but comfortable takes a little planning! Here's some things to consider before you go for your first festival of the season.

Read all the details

Every venue (or field!) is different so familiarise yourself with the lineup, schedule, and any specific guidelines or rules. What can you take in with you? Some places want you to buy all food and drink on site. So take extra funds for this purpose.

Book early

Secure your tickets early to avoid disappointment, the best events often sell out quickly. Think about what type of accommodation you can afford and cope with. Do you need to get a low cost hotel nearby to make it more enjoyable or will you be camping with the masses to soak up the atmosphere.

Take the essentials

Check the weather forecast as this can have a huge impact on your day. There's a reason people end up in waterproofs and wellies. On the plus side you could be in for a scorcher, you never know with the UK so bring sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, a reusable water bottle, a small backpack, hand sanitizer, and any necessary medications. It may be dull but consider ear protection. Festivals can be loud, so bring earplugs or noise-canceling headphones to protect your hearing. Or let you get a bit of sleep.

Stay Hydrated and Nourished

Though you may prefer to drink a Spritz! Make sure you are taking in enough water. Not doing this can seriously shorten your festival experience. Eat something decent at least once a day. This will help with your energy levels which you surely will want to be high. Often these events are over several days. So making sure you feel well throughout will mean you get to attend for the full time period and you will  feel good whilst you're there.

Stay safe

Keep your valuables secure. Some events have lockers. If not keep your belongings with you at all times. Don't bring valuable items. Try and stay with your group: Stick together with your friends or festival companions, especially in crowded areas. Be sure to pace yourself. It's incredibly exciting but rest when needed.

Embrace the Experience

Engage with other people positively. Festivals are a great opportunity to meet new people and connect with fellow attendees who share similar interests. Relax and let yourself fully experience the music, performances, and overall ambiance of the festival.

Why it's worth going to a music festival

Festivals have a distinct and vibrant atmosphere that sets them apart from other events. The combination of music, sometimes art, elaborate stage designs and the collective energy of the crowd creates an electrifying and memorable experience.

If you fancy an escape from the daily routine and a chance to immerse yourself in a very different but celebratory feeling, this is a chance to let loose, dance, and enjoy life in a carefree way. The power of music and people together is strong and creates a great opportunity to connect and socialise with like-minded souls.

Overall attending a festival can create lasting memories. From sharing magical moments with friends, or simply being part of a shared experience, you will cherish the moments from this summer for years to come. And you'll know you looked amazing in your superb outfit!
