How to renovate your outdoor space

You’re looking outside at your back garden and thinking… what can I do to uplift my outdoor space? This was me a few weeks ago, and now it might be you too. With the cold and rainy weather taking over, my back garden looked dull, boring and just sad. So, I decided to roll up my sleeves and spruce it up!

Whether you are looking for ways to make your patio more inviting or are simply curious about some easy ways to renovate your back garden – I’ve got you. Today, that’s exactly what I’m going to be talking about. Ready to transform your outdoor space?

Think about the details

An outdoor space looks as good as its details – garden fence, garden shed, you name it. If your outdoor structures are looking worn, outdated and damaged, it’s time for a change. Give your garden shed a new lick of paint and replace your garden fence. This simple change will do wonders to the overall look of your garden.

If you are renovation or replacing your fence, Speedy Fixings, fence post shoe suppliers, recommend installing fence post shoes on the wooden posts of your garden fence. Post shoes add extra stability and support to your fence, making it last longer and easily withstand the bad weather.

In case you want to make your garden fence stand out, why not paint it as well? “You can show off your personality and paint it with different colours and patterns. You might choose to have a bold and bright garden fence to make your home stand out or a more modest and neutral garden fence to keep it standard. You can’t go wrong with a white picket fence!” says A July Dreamer.

Clear the clutter

The Spruce recommends decluttering your outdoor space. “Rethink the yard by clearing out the clutter, pruning overgrown trees and hedges, relocating play equipment, or donating it if your children are too old for slides and swings. Get rid of or recycle broken furniture and accessories or things that don't seem to belong in the yard.”

Anything that you don’t want to get rid of yet but it’s cluttering up the back garden can be easily put into storage. However, I’d tell you not to do this. No more asking yourself “What if I’ll need this in the future?”. If you haven’t used that specific item in years, just get rid of it. Plus, you can make some money from your second-hand things!

Sick of having to constantly maintain and tidy your lawn space? Many homeowners in the UK have been switching to artificial grass in their garden, removing the need for consistent upkeep and achieving that perfect, neat look at all times.

Depending on the look that you’re trying to achieve, suppliers such as Grass Warehouse offer a wide variety of colours, depths, and heights, with child and pet-friendly designs for busy families.

Turn it into a retreat

Transform your outdoor space into a retreat by adding comfortable furniture, heat sources (fire pits always look fabulous!) and lighting. Your outdoor space is an extension of your home, and you should be able to take advantage of this space whenever you feel like it. Add some sort of shade or rain cover to ensure you can use your outdoor space no matter the weather.
