Artisan Pasta

One of our favourite gifts to receive is a high quality pasta with beautiful shapes. For several years now we’ve been turning to Pasta Garofalo. Not only is the taste of the pasta incredible, but it also holds and wraps around your sauces taking any dish from every day to a little bit of wonder.

Pastificio Lucio Garofalo is an Italian company based in Gragnano Naples, specialising in the production of pasta.

Since 1789 Garofalo has been synonymous with excellence. So much so that the year books of the time refer to ‘high-quality pasta’ as “Garofalo type Pasta”.

Pasta Garofalo is made using high quality durum wheat and water and is formed through bronze dies, giving each shape a rough a porous texture, ensuring sauces ‘stick’ to it perfectly.

With over 70 different Durum Wheat pasta shapes to choose from, as well as an extensive range of Whole wheat, Gluten Free and Organic shapes, there’s pasta for everyone!

Pasta Garofalo also have a selection of quality natural sauces and olive oil, perfect for Christmas hampers!

Luxury Condiments

Who doesn’t love a luxury condiment? One that takes your meal from good to sheer delight?

I discovered Grey Poupon mustard a few years ago and it’s still our family mustard! We all love it and also cook with it to make delicious sauces for a wide range of dishes. Add to sausages with some honey. Or put in your bechamel sauce when creating a lasagne! Even my Italian husband has to concede it’s worth adapting a classic for the result!

So bring out the best for your winter roasts and Christmas dinners with Grey Poupon mustard. It’s a fine French mustard crafted in Dijon since 1777 and made with local chardonnay wine.

Our go to product is the Dijon with white wine. It’s so delicate, once you’ve tried some it will become a kitchen must have.

These make lovely gifts for food lovers and great stocking fillers!

Not just any Panettone…

Now that Panettone has become a popular Christmas food in the UK, it would be easy to think they are all the same. However, a true artisan Panettone is a special creation with a long and loving baking process!

We’ve been trying the excellent selection of Panettone at Sous Chef, this one is by specialist Italian bakers Muzzi. With Black Cherry & Chocolate Chip its luxury ingredients make it a perfect gift. The black cherry filling is sweet and tart, perfectly paired with the dark chocolate chips!

The benefit of buying these is that not only do you gift a delicious present but it’s already spectacularly wrapped!

To give a little history of the brand, Muzzi was founded in the 18th Century by Master Muzzi in the Umbrian town Foligno, Italy. Their famous aniseed marzipan recipe proved very popular with Italian nobility at the time, and the business expanded into offering bread and pastries. Even now Muzzi is well known worldwide as the maker of some of the best panforte, pandoro and panettone.

TASTE: My Life Through Food by Stanley Tucci

Those of us in the UK who heard all about Stanley Tucci’s TV show ‘Searching for Italy’ but couldn’t watch it I feel your pain!

The good news is I have something to make up for it.

Stanley Tucci’s new book, Taste: My Life Through Food captures Stanley’s Italian-American upbringing and the power of meals around the table. The way our relationships intertwine with preparing and eating together. And the nostaglia, we have for dishes from our childhood.

If ever there was a perfect foodie gift, this it. Grab one for yourself and one to give away. Available at Amazon or Foyles.

Cornish Cappuccino

As many of you will know we visit Cornwall several times a year. My mother’s family are originally from here and it’s just such a unique and special place.

I’m always urging people to try and visit here instead of heading to the usual London sights!

On our recent holiday we visited Charlestown again which is a wonderful village and port. Most recently it’s been used as the film location for Poldark due to its collection of ships and traditional maritime setting. It’s a superb place with tall ships, a museum, great cafes and restaurants.

While we were there we tried a new Cornish Liqueur so I had to share this with you!

Charlestown Lust is a perfectly blended cream liqueur with a subtle hint of smooth cappuccino. Perfect over ice, delicious drizzled on ice cream or of course, added to your favourite coffee!

If this sounds like the ideal gift for someone in your life CLICK HERE to buy! Every Christmas gathering needs this tipple in our opinion!
