How to Feel Beautiful when you’re Unconfident

Sometimes you just feel bad about yourself. You might not feel as though there’s much you can do about it either. If this sounds like you then the first thing you need to take note of is that you are completely in control of the way that you feel. It’s also very possible for you to make a change, and if you take steps towards that today, you will soon find that you feel better in no time at all.

Stand Tall

The first thing you need to do is sit or stand tall. Your brain is constantly checking in with your body to see how you are feeling. When you have a straight posture then you may be able to trick your brain into thinking you feel good. Don’t slouch and make sure that you adopt a confident pose where you can. Keeping your shoulders back and keeping your chest open is one of the best ways for you to feel more radiant and it also encourages you to feel more self-assured.

Make a Change

You also need to try and make a change where possible. If you don’t feel happy about your teeth then have a chat with your dentist. They may be able to recommend something simple, like porcelain veneers. They may also be able to chat with you about what can be done to brighten your smile. If you feel overweight, go to the gym. Don’t focus on how much weight you can lose though, and instead just focus on going to work out until you start feeling good. Things like this can make a huge difference to the way that you feel, so keep that in mind.

Be an Observer

Don't issue bad or ugly judgments every time you look in the mirror. Try to take in your physical attributes in the mirror and also make sure that you look at yourself in the same way you would your best friend or your child. Be accepting and don’t criticise. If you can do this then you will soon find that it is easier for you to feel better about yourself. When your eyes take something that pleases you, your brain’s reward system will activate, and this can lift your whole mood. If you can trigger this by focusing on the things that you love you’re bound to see a huge difference in the way that you feel.

You also need to stop deflecting praise if you can. If you continually deflect praise or if you do not allow yourself to accept compliments then this will work against you more than you realise. Make sure that if someone says that you look good, that you accept it. If you do then you will soon find that this has a huge impact on yOur confidence and that you begin to feel better in no time at all. If you can keep things like this in mind then it will also start a new and more positive way to move forward.
