How to Bring that Fun Holiday Feeling to Your Garden

While there are more than enough emotional benefits of traveling with your family, as you know, traveling is expensive, and that price is growing more and more. Really, it doesn’t matter where you go, so more families are either traveling less or staying somewhere for a much shorter period, which is totally fine (and budget-conscious too). While the landscapes and the experiences are one of the main things that make a holiday so spectacular, how about the accommodation?
Well, a lot of holiday homes tend to bring things that just create that holiday feeling, like a pool, a fire pit, a nice patio set, some fun activities for the kids, an outdoor sauna, a jacuzzi, well, anything that has this novelty aspect to it. But that’s usually the difference.
Holiday homes, hotels, and B&Bs don’t always have massive gardens. Sometimes the outdoor area is tiny. Sometimes it’s literally just a patio with a plunge pool, two loungers, and a grill that makes everyone act like dinner outside feels like a fun trip.
Really, that's small and simple. So, why not just transform your garden to emulate that same feeling?
Start with What Would Actually Pull People Outside
A lot of gardens are technically “nice,” but they don’t really invite anyone to do anything. Like at best, you just sit there and look at a few plants. Sure, it’s nice, but that's not really enough, though. So the better question is, what would make people want to go out there without forcing it? For some families, it’s water.
Usually, it’s as simple as that because on a hot day, everyone can take a dip in the pool, and the kids can splash around. But if you decide to get a pool, you’ll either need to learn how to clean it or instead look into pool chemical service; the same can be said for a jacuzzi hot tub as well. But pools are one, a lot of families like grill areas, fire pits, a hammock, a reading corner, a place to play games, but purposes like this will help get people outside and have some fun.
Make the Annoying Stuff Easier
Well, what would be considered annoying, though? Well, maintenance in general? The beauty of holiday homes and hotels is the fact that you don’t have to maintain them; it's not your job. But just because you have to maintain your garden doesn’t inherently mean that you shouldn’t have anything nice or fun. So instead, just try and make things a bit lazier, such as adding more concrete so you don’t have to cut the grass (or add a large deck), be a bit pickier with plants, maybe some less fussy ones, and pick low-maintenance furniture for when your family will be outside.
Add More Convenience
It’s not just about focusing on low maintenance, but its convenience in general. Holiday homes are fairly clever here because they usually make outdoor life convenient, towels are close by, chairs are already where people want them, there’s a little table for drinks, and the grill isn’t shoved in some awkward corner.
Plus, kids have something to touch, splash, throw, or climb on before they start asking to go back inside. So, there’s all these conveniences, and you can seriously create these too if you want, just think like a holiday home owner.
