A Review Of EatProtein High Protein Snacks: Are They Worth It?

You don’t need to be a fitness buff to see that protein is having a moment. What was once the reserve of serious gym-goers is now finding its way into the diets of pretty much everyone looking for an easy way to support their overall health and well-being. After all, not only is protein good for building and retaining muscle, but it also supports body tissue growth and helps to keep you feeling full for longer, which can enhance weight loss goals.

Given the popularity of protein, it’s no surprise to see a seemingly endless number of protein products on the market, many of which go beyond the classic protein powder that you’d add to a smoothie. Today, there’s a whole range of protein-laden snacks available for purchase, including chocolates, wafers, and crisps.

One of the most prominent in this sector is EatProtein, which, as the name suggests, specialises in all kinds of protein products. But are their products any good? We decided to take a deep dive to check for ourselves whether the UK-based protein company's protein snacks (we ignored their protein powder for this review) were any good. Let’s take a look at what we found.

About EatProtein

First up, let’s take a look at the company itself. EatProtein was founded back in 2020 with the goal of creating a range of protein and supplement products targeted at the women’s wellness market in the UK. Today, they’re highly-regarded in the wellness sector thanks to the quality of their products, which include not only protein products, but also collagen and fibre supplements.

All their products are designed for women — you won’t find any gym-bro branding here — and are made in the UK using carefully selected ingredients that support wellness and taste great.

EatProtein’s High Protein Snacks: What’s On The Table?

OK, so that’s the skinny on the brand out the way. Now let’s get to business. What’s the deal with their high protein snacks?

If you’ve been to a UK supermarket recently, you’ll know that protein-focused snacks are all the rage. Unfortunately, many of those store-bought protein snacks either taste like cardboard or are prohibitively expensive (and in many cases, both).

EatProtein tackles both of those issues. The snacks we tried were both delicious — they tasted nothing like the bland protein snacks we’ve tried in the past — and highly affordable. On their site, you’ll find a host of innovative protein-based snacks, including chocolate coconut wafers, chocteaser snack balls, cheddar cheese protein crisps, and choc chip cookie dough cookies, among others, all of which have the look and feel of a quality M&S product, just loaded with protein and a budget-friendly price.

EatProtein’s High Protein Snacks: Are They Really High Protein?

OK, so EatProtein’s snacks are tasty and contain protein. The question is, how much protein do they have? We’ve been burned before by products that claim to be full of protein, but when you look closer, they turn out to only have marginal amounts of the stuff. It’s easy to put ‘protein’ on a label, but that doesn’t mean that it’s going to be enough for you to meet your protein goals.

Happily, EatProtein are forthcoming about the nutritional values of their snacks (in fact, for all their products), so we were able to see exactly how much protein was in each snack. You’ll find that information on the packaging itself, or you can take a look at the product page on the brand’s website.

EatProtein’s snacks deliver high quantities of protein per serving. Let’s take a look at just some examples:

  • Thai Sweet Chilli Protein Crisps: 11.2g of protein

  • Chocolate Coconut Wafer: 9.2g of protein

  • Chocteaser Snack Balls: 10g protein

  • Salt & Vinegar Protein Crisps: 11.2g of protein

That’s pretty impressive for what is essentially a snack that you’d have after lunch or throughout the day. Plus, not only are those snacks jam-packed with protein, but they’re also extremely low-calorie — the Salt & Vinegar Protein Crisps, for example, have just 91 calories!

Throw in the fact that all the snacks we tried were absolutely delicious, and it’s easy to see EatProtein is earning a reputation for providing the best high-protein snacks UK women can buy.

The Pros and Cons of High Protein Snacks from EatProtein

Pros:

  • Plenty of Diversity: EatProtein has an extensive range of snacks, including wafers, chocolate balls, and crisps in a wide variety of flavours.

  • Genuinely High In Protein: Protein comes first, and 9 - 11g of protein per serving is pretty outstanding, especially when all their products are also low in calories.

  • They’re Highly Affordable: Their products are superior to what you’d find in a store, yet often cheaper. You can also reduce costs by creating your own snack box, which brings the per-unit cost down to under £1.

  • They Taste Great: No need to choose between your taste buds and your fitness goals; these products taste fantastic.

  • They’re Low In Sugar: They’re sweet treats that you don’t need to feel guilty about.

Cons:

  • Some Products Were Out Of Stock When We Looked: It could be a minor supply chain issue, but some products we wanted to try were unavailable over the few-day period that we looked.

  • Can Be Pricey If It’s Your Only Source of Protein: They’re high in protein and affordable, but things would quickly get expensive if you tried to get all of your protein via the snacks. Best to combine the order with protein powder.

  • Can Only Buy Online: They’re not available in any stores so far as we know, so you’ll need to plan ahead and wait for delivery, which takes a day.

Final Thoughts On EatProtein’s High Protein Snacks

With protein intake seemingly more important than ever, having an easy way to boost protein levels is very much appreciated. If that way is also delicious and low-calorie, then all the better.

And that’s just what EatProtein provides. Their high protein snacks are affordable, tasty, and available in a variety of forms, including crisps, wafers, and chocolate balls. In a competitive market, they’ve managed to set themselves apart by simply delivering what people not only need from their protein snacks, but what they want. While it’s a shame that you can’t (yet) buy in-store, that’s just a minor downside. All in all, this is a range of products that we’re more than happy to recommend.
