Using Promotional Merchandise to Market Your Business

Promotional merchandise can be used in a variety of ways to attract new customers and encourage existing ones to come back to you time and time again. They can also be used as staff gifts, as a way of thanking them for their hard work. Essentially, they make you more memorable and take your marketing campaign to the next level.

So, if you’re wondering how to incorporate branded items into your marketing strategy, here are some suggestions…

Sales Pitches

If you have an upcoming sales pitch, you could take along some branded items, such as pens and notepads. These items are likely to stay on your prospective client’s desk for a long time to come, which will give you daily visibility and ensure you are remembered.

Exhibitions

Typically, stands at exhibitions that are giving away promotional merchandise are usually more popular. After all, who doesn’t love a freebie? Try and think outside the box and offer unique items that set you apart from the competition. If your staff wear uniform at the exhibition, make sure it has your logo on it.

Customer Deliveries

For companies who send out deliveries to customers, you could consider adding a little branded item to the parcels. Of course, this would be quite expensive if you do it throughout the year so maybe think about doing it in the run-up to Christmas, Valentine’s or any other special occasion that might be applicable. Other options include adding custom stickers with your logo to the packaging for a more cost-effective option.

Store Gifts

Similar to adding little branded gifts to customer deliveries, you could also giveaway items to your store customers. For example, if you run a beauty salon, you could giveaway branded nail polish or lip-gloss to your clients as they leave.

Whatever method you go for, make sure that your promotional merchandise is reflective of your business values. For instance, if you claim to be an eco-friendly company, you could consider giving away items that are made from recycled materials to emphasise your message.

It may take some trial and error to get right, so don’t be alarmed if your sales don’t dramatically rise as soon as you incorporate your branded merchandise strategy.
