Halloween Party Guide

Halloween is back this October. It is a celebration that has great creative potential. Soon, horror movie characters, ghosts, and other types of creatures will be roaming the streets looking for candy in every city.

In the meantime, other people use this as a chance to celebrate by using a crazy or unique theme. If all of this energy inspires you to want to throw a party to celebrate Halloween this year in style, the following are 5 tips to help you plan a night that your guests will remember for a very long time.

1. Select a time and date

Halloween is officially celebrated on October 31. However, usually, Halloween-themed parties are held over the course of a few weeks surrounding this date. It would be such a shame to deprive yourself of a party due to thinking it was too late or too early to be thought of as "Halloween time."  However, you do need to be careful when it comes to selecting the best date, particularly as it relates to who you want to invite to your party.

Adults who have children are usually busy on the night of October 31st. There is also really fierce competition during that time. Depending on your Halloween party theme's program, be sure your guests can make it and not decide a go to a different party instead. Quickly searching social media will give you a pretty good idea of what other parties are taking place close to you.

Take into account what local restrictions there are with regards to Covid-19. In some areas there are limits to the number of people who can attend a gathering, so follow these to avoid any issues.

Virtual parties are becoming more popular and mean you can still meet up with friends and see each other on the night. With online platforms offering group calls, even those shielding can be included.

2. Get started

For themed parties, invitations are really important. Usually, it is the first contact between your guests and you. If your Halloween party invitations do not make them want to immediately go to your party, then you have missed something important. These days, invitations involve creating a website or Facebook event for those who are really motivated - or you can set up a free Weezevent minisite in a couple of minutes.

Whether or not your party is open to all or just your friends, or is free or not, it is a good idea to get registrations set up. This is a chance to create a form that asks questions such as clues about the costumes they will be wearing that evening, what potions guests will be bringing, etc. With Weezevent, there are no limits to your creativity!

If your party is being held in a club or bar, you might want to get an online ticketing module set up. With so much competition from all the other Halloween parties that are happening, online ticketing can help to ensure you sell tickets even before your event starts. That will help you make adjustments to your communication, make sure you have enough drinks and food, etc. The odds will be placed on your side to ensure that your event succeeds.

3. Consider the details

Nothing should be left to chance with your program and event description. The address and time for your event, the theme for costumes, and whether or not guests need to bring drinks or food are basic information that needs to be shared. You can also add anything else that you want.

It is very easy to get overwhelmed with all of the costumes, entertainment equipment, beverage and food ingredients, decorations, glow stick anyone?

You can decorate your space with scarecrows, ghosts, skeletons, and other scary characters. If you are throwing an outdoor Halloween party, you can use themed bounce houses and waterslides to entertain your little guests. With the help of custom inflatable characters, you can bring the "spooky vibes and scary night" to life and be sure that your party will be memorable for your guests. And, of course, pumpkins: what Halloween party would be complete without a creepy pumpkin head?

Planning these things ahead of time will help to make sure you don't have any stress at the last minute. You want to be able to enjoy your party along with your guests and make unforgettable memories along with them.

4. Manage drinks and food

It can be very challenging to plan a party on your own. That is why the party's host often asks guests to bring drink and food. It is more friendly, and everybody can show off their cooking talents by bringing their most spooky and elaborate recipes.

Even if you will not be preparing all of the food, you can still provide your guests with a theme that they can follow. Provide them with easy-to-prepare recipes that go with your theme. Hav a competition for the best drink or dessert. People are more likely to get involved if you can create some momentum.

5. Hold a costume competition

Something important would be missing if your Halloween party didn't have a costume competition? Be sure to clearly communicate the rules for your competition. Email, social media, programs, event descriptions, invitations, etc. are all good opportunities for discussing it. The earlier and more often you discuss it, the more time the guests will have to get prepared. It takes some time to make a costume, so provide them with some tips for coming up with the best costume.

You should also tell people about the prizes they can win. You can set up categories that are based on different themes of costumes such as cartoons and horror.

Halloween this year will be different but there are lots of creative ways that you and your friends can still enjoy it.
