Best cities to visit in Spain in Summer

Spain has a unique charm, and it receives millions of tourists each year. After the confinement crisis, Spanish borders are open to receive those eager to vacation in one of its wonderful cities.

Its location means that at this time of year you have long and sunny days lasting about 12 hours. It is also because of the summer heat that the "siesta" is definitely in order in Spain. The afternoons are so hot that you won't be able to do anything except a nap! And this is well anchored in local customs.

The days stop at 2 p.m. and start again at 6 p.m. when it becomes less stuffy to go outside. Keep reading to pick your next Spanish destination!

1. Valencia

Located on the east coast of Spain, Valencia is particularly known for its City of Arts and Sciences. The city is also famous for its fallas festivals, from March 15 to 19. There parades with giant papier-mâché figures parade in front of a cheerful crowd. On the last evening, the statues are finally burned, followed by fireworks and a party in the streets. To recover from your emotions, head to one of the many beaches.

2. Barcelona

You probably know a little bit of Barcelona, a fascinating Mediterranean city and one of the most popular destinations in the world. From beaches to mountains, there are plenty of things to do in Barcelona. Take advantage on your next trip to discover its hidden niches, live typical local experiences and let yourself be conquered by Catalan gastronomy.

You can enjoy this opportunity to take a short course in a Spanish School Barcelona. There are plenty of schools that can prepare you to be autonomous during your trip in Spain. You can check Expanish school, one of the most reviewed schools in the city.

3. Granada, the medieval city

Medieval towns still attract tourists with a passion for history and knights. For young and old, Granada is not lacking in appeal. The city of Andalusia, near the Sierra Nevada mountains, you will find many monuments to visit such as the Alhambra or the countless fountains that make up the city. One of its neighborhoods, the Albaicin, is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

An Arab and Catholic cultural center, Granada is marked by its past. Strolling through the streets, one still notices traces of medieval architecture, but also of the Renaissance and the oriental style which has long made the city so successful. For an exhibition, a festival, a concert, or simply to spend an excellent holiday, Granada is a highly recommended stopover!

4. Palma de Mallorca, the nice surprise

Palma de Mallorca, on the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea, is not just a city of parties, nightclubs and clubs of all kinds. While boozy nights are a reality, there is a whole other truth when you step away from the center.

A truth where the charm of the old city retains all its strengths and thrills lovers of quiet corners. This district is called Casco Antiguo. You will find charming little streets and the wild side of the seaside.

5. Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

Yes, the Canary Islands are part of Spain. Lost in the Atlantic Ocean, these are often the work of foreigners' fantasies. And for good reason! Las Palmas is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities in the country. She is notably the witness of the passage of Christopher Columbus during his quest for the route to India. We strongly recommend that you visit the Casa de Colon to learn more about the historic man.

However, ike any big city, Las Palmas draws crowds and sometimes finds itself a little too crowded to enjoy. Try to get there out of season if you can, in order to truly experience the beauty of the city and its beaches.

6. Málaga, the seaside

Very popular with locals for their holidays, Malaga is a seaside resort where you can soak up the sun most of the year. These beautiful Spanish beaches are not the city’s only tourist attraction.

In its center, visitors can especially enjoy several museums dedicated to the famous painter Picasso. The city of the Costa del Sol is perfect for a good compromise between cultural discovery and relaxation. Enough for a great Hispanic holiday!
