World Book Day - Bilingual Children - Week #8

World Book Day

This week in honour of the brilliant initiative World Book Day, we are concentrating on great bilingual books in a variety of languages.

World Book Day is a day for celebrating anyone involved in the creation of books and stories and most importantly it’s a celebration of reading.

UNESCO have recognised it as a worldwide project to promote books and reading, and it's celebrated in over 100 countries all over the world.

The initiative has been running for 21 years and the next one will take place on 1st March 2018.

The day brings children of all ages together and encourages them to read, bring their favourite book to school and often dress up for the day as their favourite character.

My son's class is learning about the book 'Blue Planet II' and so they are all dressing up as ocean creatures! So far I am wondering if he will wear the elaborate octopus costume I've made for him or just go in a shark t-shirt if he changes his mind! The joys of motherhood!

So with this in mind I've brought together a group of bilingual books in different languages for you to try with your children. I hope you enjoy them and inspires you to have your own bilingual book day!
