Dubai Summer Holidays Guide

In the summer, temperatures average 45 degrees Celsius (113 degrees Fahrenheit). However, it is not uncommon to reach daytime highs of up to 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit). August in Dubai is often the hottest month of the year there.

There is a possibility that what you experience in Dubai and what is recorded during the hottest parts of the summer are not the same thing. Not only the temperature but also the humidity is something that needs to be considered. It is helpful to have a weather app that displays the actual temperature and what the temperature "feels like."

The second half of summer, from August through September, is often when Dubai's high humidity levels become more apparent. It is also essential to remember that even though the sun's intense heat is absent during the night, the temperature does not drop to levels lower than 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit).

You will be able to see and do a great deal more in the evenings when the sun's glare and the heat are no longer a factor; however, you should not lose sight of the fact that some things simply cannot be done during the night. Therefore, you need to consider how hot it will be if you intend to travel to Dubai or any of the other Emirates in the area.

When you are outside, the best method to protect yourself from sunburn or heat stroke is to limit the amount of time you spend in direct sunlight, apply enough sunblock with a high factor, and dress appropriately for the weather.

If you take the time to follow these easy instructions, your trip to the Middle East should go off without a hitch, and you should return home with a beautiful golden tan and a plethora of unforgettable experiences.

So if you want some time away from the heat, you have many other options available. We are fortunate to have a large number of public spaces that have been intended to keep both inhabitants and visitors hydrated, comfortable, and cool.

You will find that practically all of Dubai's indoor shopping malls and neighborhoods have state-of-the-art air conditioning, and these places can provide a source of mild respite if you are having trouble coping with the heat outside. This is because Dubai is a highly affluent area. Do you think you can handle the intensity? The following are our tips on staying cool while you're in Dubai.

Tips to Survive in Dubai During Summer

1. Air Conditioning Everywhere

Most travelers will find that surviving the summer heat in Dubai is not quite as challenging as it might appear. For starters, practically everything is air-conditioned to the extreme – even when it is too chilly.

You will arrive at an air-conditioned airport, transfer to either an air-conditioned automobile or an air-conditioned Metro train, and finally arrive at an air-conditioned place to stay. In many cities and towns, even the bus stations have air conditioning.

2. Dress in Light Weight Clothes

Dressing appropriately for the temperature should always be a priority. Do not fall victim to the common idea that females are required to wear a full burkha or head covering at all times. For sun protection and to feel cool wear clothing made of loose cotton but which is also respectable.

3. Water Intake

Keep a water bottle close at all times so that you can easily avoid the problem of becoming dehydrated when walking around the city in the heart of Dubai.

4. Eat small, But often.

The larger the meal, the greater amount of energy your body will need to consume to digest it. Many people discover that they lose their appetite when the weather is excessively hot. This is the body's response as it attempts to maintain its internal balance.

If you consume several little meals regularly, you will experience a significant increase in happiness and comfort.

5. Get up early for adventures

If you intend to go on a lengthy hike or vacation, you should get an early start on your journey.

Around seven in the morning is the ideal time to set off on an adventure because it will give you a good couple of hours of leeway before the sun reaches its zenith of intensity in the afternoon.

You should always bring a lot of bottled water with you, wear comfortable shoes, and cover any exposed body parts with a sunblock with a high factor.

6. Water Park

The Wild Wadi Water Park in Dubai is one of the largest water parks anyplace in the world that is of its kind. It is home to the largest water slide found anywhere besides North America.

Therefore, it is ideal for thrill-seekers who want to battle the heat and stay cool while still having great fun with other people.

At the water park, however, wearing a bikini is entirely acceptable, while in other public areas, you are expected to cover yourself.

My sister lives in Dubai and one of her favourite activities is a desert BBQ.

A Dubai desert BBQ is a popular activity that combines the beauty of the desert landscape with a delicious barbecue dinner. Here's what you can expect from a typical Dubai desert BBQ experience:

  1. Desert Safari: The experience usually starts with a thrilling desert safari. You'll be picked up from your hotel in a 4x4 vehicle and driven into the desert dunes. The safari includes dune bashing, where the skilled driver maneuvers the vehicle over sand dunes for an exhilarating ride.

  2. Sunset Views: As you explore the desert, you'll have the opportunity to witness a breathtaking sunset over the sand dunes. This is a perfect time to capture some memorable photographs.

  3. Traditional Welcome: Upon arriving at the desert campsite, you'll be welcomed with traditional Arabic coffee (gahwa) and dates. You can also enjoy activities like camel riding, henna painting, and posing for photos in traditional Emirati attire.

  4. BBQ Dinner: The highlight of the evening is the sumptuous barbecue dinner. You can feast on a variety of grilled meats, such as lamb, chicken, and beef, along with a selection of salads, bread, and vegetarian options. The food is often prepared right at the campsite, ensuring freshness and a delectable dining experience.

  5. Live Entertainment: While enjoying your meal, you'll be entertained by live performances, including traditional music and dance shows such as tanoura and belly dancing. These cultural performances add to the overall festive atmosphere.

  6. Shisha (Hookah): After dinner, you can relax and unwind with a traditional shisha (hookah) experience. Choose from a variety of flavors and enjoy this popular Middle Eastern pastime.

  7. Stargazing: As the night falls, take a moment to gaze at the clear desert sky, which provides an excellent opportunity for stargazing. Away from city lights, you can marvel at the beauty of the stars and constellations.

  8. Bedouin-style Setting: The campsite is often designed in a traditional Bedouin-style setup, with low seating cushions and carpets. This creates an authentic ambiance and adds to the overall cultural experience.

A Dubai desert BBQ is a fantastic way to immerse yourself in the local culture, enjoy delicious food, and create lasting memories in the picturesque desert setting. Remember to dress comfortably, carry sunscreen, and have your camera ready to capture the enchanting moments.

These are just a few highlights of what Dubai has to offer. The city constantly evolves, and there are always new attractions and experiences to discover.

Overall

Dubai offers a variety incredible activities any time of year. You could consider visiting in the summer months or the winter months depending on your personal preferences. The peak tourist season begins in November and ends in April, this peak season is a great time to enjoy outdoor activities at more favourable temperatures with little rain. There's usually a significant drop in termperature making this the perfect time to visit. Consider visiting in early January to enjoy some hot weather whilst avoiding the UK's cooler weather. One of the best things about Dubai is that the average daytime temperature ranges from 28-35 degrees meaning that you can enjoy lots of sunshine and pleasant weather year round. If you're wanting to visit out of peak season then September - November is the best time to go. The average temperature is between 26-38c with the average sea temperature at 33.7°C making it perfect for swimming!

From the Dubai International Film Festival to visiting the Palm Jumeirah or Dubai Museum, there is plenty to do in this desert city. A particularly popular event is the Dubai Shopping Festival which takes place mid December to early January. This is one of the best places to enjoy a few moments in the cool.

If you're someone who is visiting purely for hours of sunshine, blue skies and long lazy beach days, then the good news for you is that Dubai is known for its sunny days. You can enjoy lots of sunshine by the comfort of your luxury hotels pool, or explore the sand dunes on a fantastic excursion. Just be sure to get the full Dubai experience and tick everything off your bucket list whilst you're over there (it's a good idea to visit the Dubai Safari Park and Dubai Miracle Garden).
