Best christmas gifts for making people happy

Ad: This is a sponsored post, however opinions are 100% my own.

This year has been hard on everyone, whatever your situation 2020 has caused a great deal of upset and upheaval.

Gifting this year takes on a new meaning as what we would normally buy might not really seem important any more. Many people are getting back to simple pleasures in life and being grateful for little luxuries.

With that in mind, we’ve created a gift guide of comforting items which fit our new levels of self-awareness. Gifts to make someone happy!

Gift a moment of calm

Inspired by a passion for plants, these lovingly hand-poured candles are made from a delicate blend of natural mineral wax and the finest essential and fragrance oils. They are also 100% Vegan.

Wick'd Wax Botanics was inspired by the owner Sally, who has a lifelong passion for plants as well as years of experience as a professional gardener.  She embarked on a quest to capture the fresh aromas of garden flora and bring them inside to enjoy all year round.

Designing ranges of delicious fragrances that encapsulate the seasons, she has also chosen combinations which harness the powers of botanic remedies used for centuries.

The Christmas range includes flamin’ festive fig, santa’s cinnamon surprise and damn fine single malt. They are £25 each or 3 for £60. There is also a discount offered on orders over £75.

Check out the range here and find gifts for all the family.

Quality coffee

Lavazza Crema e Gusto is my favourite Italian coffee. It’s far more creamy and less bitter than others and feels a real treat.

I put it in my Moka pot and we recently bought this romantic version with two espresso cups!

This is the type of gift that will make someone feel better each morning and maintain a little self-care.

Bring some cheer to your home and table

Nothing says that the countdown to Christmas is underway better than a beautiful poinsettia laden with gorgeous coloured bracts. With their image adorning everything from Christmas cards to gift wrap, poinsettias are the established emblem of the festive season, bringing cheer to our homes in the darkest days of winter as families gather to spend quality time together.

With their traditional red-topped bracts set to grace our homes in the coming months, poinsettias bring the beauty of nature indoors, renowned for their unrivalled ability to blend with glittering decorations, sparkling lights and advent calendars to create that cosy festive atmosphere that everyone craves in the depths of winter. This year, however, get set to see new colours take centre stage, from pinks and oranges, to cream, yellow and variegated displays, all of which providing the ultimate in gifting potential whether it’s for your family, friend, neighbour, teacher.

This year you can find an entire library of inspiring content on adding poinsettia into your festive décor scheme all thanks to the team at Stars for Europe. Visit https://www.starsuniteeurope.eu/en/ for more information, or follow @TheChristmasStar on Instagram and Facebook.

To purchase visit your local garden centre where you’ll find stunning displays, these are stocked at the likes of Ferndale Garden centre, Hilliers, Squires, and British Garden Centres.

Women’s Christmas Sweatshirt with ‘Stellina’ slogan. (Little star).

Men’s ‘Orsi’ Italian T-shirt. (Bear).

Great winter coats

As we’re spending so much more time outdoors, you need a proper coat! This year the hunt is on for something to keep you cosy on long walks, sitting around a firepit and blustery school runs!

I love the women’s Joules quilted coats. They are fitted to your shape, look smart and have a removable faux fur hood.

The men’s similar version is not as long, comes with a hood for horrid weather and is rather dashing! It also comes in green.

Caffarel Gianduia Chocolates

We always have these in the house at Christmas. The quality of Gianduia is incredible. They make wonderful gifts or stocking fillers in their pretty gold foil.

These are the perfect gift for adults over what will be a very housebound holiday period! You just need a Christmas movie now and you’re set.

Gift of escape

Is it really Christmas if you don’t gift a great book? For those Italy lovers amongst you, I’ve chosen this brilliant concise history of Italy. The country is so well known for Prosecco and Panettone but really there is so much about today's Italian culture which is better understood once you know how the country was shaped. For a non-heavy delve into the past, grab this copy!

Our second recommendation is a bible of Italian cooking. Fifty years ago, a group of Italian scholars gathered to discuss how to preserve traditional Italian cooking. They formed the Italian Academy of Cuisine to gather classic recipes from every region. The academy's more than seven thousand associates spread out to villages everywhere, interviewing grandmothers and farmers at their stoves, transcribing their recipes, many of which had never been documented before. This is the culmination of that research, an astounding feat, 2,000 recipes!

I have this at home and refer to it all the time.
