I've had a lovely surprise this week as the wonderful Vicky of The Mummy Bubble has nominated me for the Blogger Recognition Award!
Thank you so much for the nomination. It means so much coming from a blogger who I read regularly and who has me in stitches with her quotes on Instagram.
Check out, her brilliant blog for honest views on parenthood. But that's not all. Vicky's also not afraid to approach topics like about how we value women in our society and the media's portrayal of mothers' bodies after pregnancy.
So what is the Blogger Recognition Award?
This award is passed on by bloggers to fellow bloggers, who appreciate their hard work and effort they invest in each and every post. It is is also a great way to connect with other bloggers and read their blogs.
My blogging journey
I started writing at the end of 2016 as many a time I've been told to write down some of the lost in translation moments I experience with my Italian/English family! I'm married to an Italian man and have two small children whom we are raising bilingually. Sometimes this a blessing and sometimes rather taxing!
It grew from there as I realised what people were most interested in. Now on Mammaprada we showcase brands we love from the UK & Italy. We write posts in two languages and have a SHOP on the site where you can buy our 'Favourite things' from both our heritages.
Advice to newbies!
I still see myself as a newbie! I am not a proper blogger in my eyes, I don't write three times a week and create amazing photographs. I do try and be always honest. So much of the world online is curated and we're in danger of making people feel inadequate if we are not showing the reality of our lives as well as the pretty bits!
I also think people see through you quickly if you aren't honest or if you don't really love and believe in what you're doing. It's not easy this blogging business. It takes A LOT more hours than you envisage but if it's something you're passionate about it's better to busy doing that than idle doing something you hate.
For actual practical advice, make sure you verify your site with Google as soon as you get started. Join Linky's as much as you can. You absolutely get back as much love as you put in so help people out when you can. Comment, like and be supportive. It's actually quite a small world and you never know when you might be able to help someone or need them to return the favour.
If you can go to some events do. Some of these are expensive but you don't have to go to all the big events. Sunita who runs the brilliant Lucky Things Blog has regular affordable meetups and I've met so many wonderful people through this.
So without further rambling! Here are 15 inspirational bloggers who have influenced my blogging journey who I nominate to receive the Blogger Recognition Award.
